It's Not Only About The Destination But The Road You Take To Get There...

This past weekend Steve was off and it was oh so wonderful! I love it when he is able to be home with us because with his work schedule it surely doesn't seem like much. But one thing we have learned since he started police work back in 2006, is that it's  not about the quantity of time together but the quality of our time spent together. I know I have said this before but I have to say it again. Now the new way of thinking hasn't come without its hardships and frustrations but now that we can look back it feels great. Sure are there still times that we find ourselves frustrated or on edge because we can't always do what we want, when we want together? Of course but that's life. We have learned to really embrace and enjoy our time together no matter how long or short it may be.

We usually try to get together with friends on his weekends off because who wants to hang out with just me and the girls? Haha, only kidding...but this weekend we attempted making plans a few times and they fell through. At first I was disappointed but then I thought well maybe it is meant to be Just Us  for the entire weekend, and I think it was! And so it was. And it was a lazy weekend. And we didn't really get anything accomplished. But you know what? It's okay because we had time for just us, with no plans at all, to just be together and enjoy ourselves. It was weird and nice and different than the norm, that's for sure. We do not ever have a weekend that we don't have something planned or that we don't see anyone...

We had delicious meals all weekend, somehow Steve and I ended up on this quest for making new recipes which I love. I didn't remember to take many pictures either... But Saturday night we had hamburgers and we added tons of yummy ingredients and OMG were they good! Then yesterday we decided to do something different with the pork chops we had so we made our own pulled pork and it was Ahhhmazing! I had read online that some people tried to make pulled pork with pork chops and they were tough, not in our case. When it was done cooking it fell off the bone.

I know the lighting in these aren't great but oh well...

There are soo many random bits to share so here they are:

NAP TIME
Friday morning Haiden woke up with a nasty cold so it was kind of a lazy morning for us because she was pretty cranky and just unhappy. I put some cartoons for her and set up her Dora couch so she could sit in it and ten minutes later she was out. She just laid her head over on the arm of the couch and went to sleep but within a few minutes the couch wasn't comfortable anymore so she made her way to the floor.

MOVIE FUN:
Saturday night we rented Tangled and it was adorable!! So Sunday morning Cami and Haiden wanted to watch it again. They both cuddled up together on the Dora couch and were adorable. I couldn't believe Haiden actually sat there for a good 20 minutes before she got bored and started running around...

FINALLY, A TRIP TO THE PARK
We finally had some good weather when Steve was off so we could take the girls to the park. We love going to the park all the time when the weather is nice. It is so peaceful and fun and refreshing, not to mention it tires the girls out pretty quickly! We started out in the grass just hanging out until Cameron drove me crazy asking about 50 times when we were going to the playground. Finally we gave in.

Finally Cameron got her way!

Then it was time to swing and play on the jungle gym!

And I decided to climb with Cameron so Steve took over the camera and thought it would be fun to take butt pictures...I will spare you, but when I went to look back over the pics he took I was like Babe!

And then we found baby swings and Haiden loved it!

We had a lot of fun for the few hours that we were there and then daddy had this bad, bad idea :) to get ice cream on the way home...its a little tradition...and you know you don't break tradition.

THIS IS HOW YOU EAT AN APPLE
How could I almost forget apple time? I peeled most of the skin off of an apple and let Haiden have fun with it. Now the pictures aren't perfect and some are even dark but oh well! I love love love her faces in these.

 Mmmm....delicious!

I truly believe the title of this post. It is not about finally arriving at your destination because then what? It is about the journey getting there, about the thrills, the good times, the bad times, the fun and the easy and the hard. I know that there are many times that I don't really step back and enjoy the moment but instead I rush through it. But I have been trying to so much more and I have been able to since I have started staying home and I can't tell you just how wonderful it is. To step back and breathe! I love it!
